Ms Marie Krueger

Consultant Neurosurgeon

Ms Krueger is a Consultant Neurosurgeon at the UCL Functional Neurosurgery Unit at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. She is specialised in functional neurosurgery, including Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), radiofrequency ablation (RFA), and MR-guided Focused Ultrasound (FUS).

Graduating in Medicine from the University of Freiburg, Germany in 2011, Ms Krueger received “summa cum laude” for her MD thesis. She completed her neurosurgical residency in the Department of Neurosurgery, Freiburg in 2018 before pursuing a one-year fellowship in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery at Vancouver General Hospital, University of British Columbia, Canada with Professor Christopher Honey. She was later awarded the “Venia Legendi” (PhD equivalent) from the University of Freiburg.

Ms Krueger was head of the stereotactic and functional neurosurgery service at the Kantonsspital St Gallen, Switzerland, before joining the UCL functional neurosurgery unit at the National Hospital in late 2022. Here, she introduced a new workflow to increase efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of care. Her main clinical work focuses on treating patients with movement disorders, psychiatric conditions and pain.

Ms Krueger is a Consultant Neurosurgeon and member of the Clinical Advisory and Governance Group for the Queen Square Imaging Centre's MR-Guided Focused Ultrasound service.
