Dr Francesco Carletti
Consultant Neuroradiologist
Francesco Carletti is a consultant in neuroradiology at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) in Queen Square and University College Hospital.
He has broad diagnostic expertise in imaging the brain and spine using computerised tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and regularly undertakes image-guided diagnostic and therapeutic spinal injections (selective nerve root blocks and facet joint injections).
Francesco is the lead radiologist of the weekly preoperative spinal multidisciplinary team meetings (MDT), co-leads the MDT in neuroinflammatory disorders and co-leads the Queen Square/NHNN COVID-19 Neurology and Encephalitis MDT.
Dr Carletti is registered on the Clinical Radiology Specialist Register of the General Medical Council under reference number 7026028.
Francesco graduated from the University of Brescia (Italy) with a degree in Medicine and Surgery. He completed his training in radiology and neuroradiology with honours in Italy and received a PhD in Neuroimaging from King's College London (UK).
Francesco has authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and book chapters in Neuroradiology and Neurology textbooks. Francesco was awarded a Wellcome Trust Research Training Fellowship and has been a fellow of the Paris School of Neurosciences. Francesco lectures on the Advanced Neuroimaging MSc Programme at the Institute of Neurology, University College London, where he serves as examiner and co-convenor for the epilepsy, tumour and trauma neuroimaging module.
