What is chronic dizziness?
Chronic dizziness or long term dizziness is unfortunately very common because many of these, what we call acute conditions, which are conditions that should last only a few days are not fully resolved. They have long-lasting lingering symptoms. And those lingering symptoms make the patient worry about those, and the worry makes the dizziness worse and the dizziness makes the worry worse. So it is a typical vicious circle. Our job is to try to explain what the causes of chronic dizziness are, as get the patient in some good program of rehabilitation and try to see if there’s any active disease of the inner ear still as the cause. But with the combined approach, with medication, with diagnosis, with physiotherapy, and above all, with explanation and discussion of the problem, most patients actually gain confidence and they begin to gradually recover off the problem.
